The bible is unclear in this issue because of its religious lack of importance (not that this isn’t an important question) the bible is more metaphorical than anything, so its basically just here to explain to you about God and how he created us, sent his son to save us, morals etc etc. But your question is scientific. The answer to it is Micro evolution. It’s a stone cold fact that species adapt to their climate. Africans over a period of time developed hair that best lets heat rise from their head while Irish people for instance have thick hair to keep the heat in since it’s colder in Ireland. Do you understand now?

Race is not talked about because with God, race is not an issue. People are people and that is it.

Evangelical Christians–who DO take the scriptures literally–explain that the human race–the only true ‘race’ the bible speaks of (Jews can belong to any of the so-called ‘races’)–is capable of great genetic variability. What we deem today as ‘races’ are physical traits that were favored in a given environment, as people-groups migrated into areas widely separated from each other. There has been speculation about the ‘race’ of the pre-Noahic people but we simply aren’t told anything one way or the other.

The explanation I got as a child was that it came about at the time of the Tower of Babel.

If you’d really like to learn more about this subject. There have been some excellent books written on the subject by Steve Collins. He’s very well researched and presents things in an easy to read manner. You can find the books at bibleblessings.net.

I would first like to state that there is only one human race. There are many small physical differences between groups of people, that we can observe with our eyes. These differences occured over time do to natural genetics. For an indepth study of this I would suggest that you check out Ken Ham, and his Answers in Genesis website. He has mountains of evidence refutingthe muth of evolution and the billion year old universe.

umm I don’t have all the info on this but it was explained to me the the races and languages came when that king tried to build a tower to get to heaven and this pissed God off so he gave everyone different languages so they couldn’t understand each other and they went their seprate ways and settled with the people who they understood and living in those areas for thousand of years made them look different as the bodies way of protecting its self from the sun and weather.

Many stories in the Bible are parables, symbolic stories. Not everything in the Bible can be taken literally, but must be viewed symbolically. The Flood stresses the fact that there are consequences for our actions. The consequence isn’t always death, although that is the ultimate consequence, obliterated by Jesus, but consequences do exist. That is how I have been taught to view such stories. The religious implications are more important than the actual happenings.
