It’s a common practice among superstitious people here to grow their pinkie nails past the top joint of your ring finger. It’s supposed to bring you prosperity. Maybe it’s Chinese in origin, I don’t know. But it’s seldom for ‘practical’ purposes.

It’s easy to assume that it’s for snorting coke, just as one would assume a woman with a tongue piercing is into oral. Why would anyone want people to presume that they use drugs? Either way, I think it is disgusting because the nails are always yellow-ish and not maintained. Many women grow their nails long and they look great if they are manicured. I’ve never noticed any other race doing this.
