I notice that here in America we seem to have lots of cities that are named ‘Carthage’. Given that Carthage was (I thought) pretty much wiped off the map by the Romans 2 millenia ago, is there some sort of Carthaginian culture that has survived, albeit in relative obscurity? Is it due to Carthage’s military stature that halfway around the world you still have places named after it? Do any people in other parts of the world identify themselves as ‘Carthaginian’ to any degree?
