Ronald V.MemberI have had this problem for years, but could never ask anyone about it: When I urinate, it sometimes sprays all over the toilet and makes a mess. I have resorted to sitting on the toilet so I don’t spray all over. However, other days, it flows as a stream instead of a spray. Has anyone else had this problem? What do you do about it?

MikeParticipantYou are not alone…this happens to me and my partner as well. The solution is simple- before you urinate, place your glans (head of your penis) between your thumb and index finger, gently squeeze and roll back and forth. This will cause the opening to ‘unstick’ which should result in a stream instead of spray. You didn’t say if you were circumsized or not- if not pull back the foreskin as well.

jason31240Participantthat has happened to me before to, so i guess its more common than i thought, all i can think of is sitting down just like you, could it have somkehting to do with not being circumsized?

MikeParticipantRonald: This happens to me on occasion. Besides your kindeys and bladder, your Cowpers Gland and your Prostate Gland are producing fluids. The Cowpers Gland produces what is commonly known as ‘pre-cum’ and your Prostate is producing semenal fluid. Both tend to be viscious, sticky fluids that will dry up upon contact with air, causing the slit at the end of your penis to stick together. Try placing the end of your penis between your index finger and thumb and twisting it to free up the opening before you urinate. Also, at your age excessive semenal discharge could be a sign of problems with your Prostate Gland. Annual prostate gland checks are advised for any male over 40.

LawrenceMemberI have had that happen to me occasionally. Usually when I first get up in the morning and the end of the nozzle seems to be stuck together. If I squeeze or pull back on the tip of my penis, it pops completely open and that always takes care of the problem. Perhaps it is due to some seepage during the night that causes the tip to stick together? A urologist could probably tell you the exact answer.

DonParticipantIs sounds to me like you might have a small split in your urethra. (spelled) does this happen after sex (or some other activity)? sometimes after sex small amounts of seamen get left in the urethra and make partial blockages. when the urine dissolves the clog the problem is fixed. I had this happen periodically after vigorous sex or a night of lots of sex.

PedroParticipantFirst, check with your doctor to rule out any physical problems. This happens to me on occassion but usually only after having sex. I think the semen crusts at the tip and interrupts the stream. If I urinate right after it doesn’t happen, I guess because its flushed away.

Mark A.ParticipantIm sure a lot of women will yell at you and say to lift the lid. LOL I’ve had that happen to me quite a few times, but usually after I’ve had sex of masterbated. I’m guessing that a small amount of cum clumped up in the pee hole making it like putting your finger in the end of the garden hose. So I have to ask, do you shower daily? Do you clean yourself after sex? Are you circumsized? These all could be a factor.

Brett19435ParticipantI’ve had ‘accuracy problems’ since I was hospitalized and needed a urinary catheter (that’s a tube inserted into the urethra up into the bladder). I think in general men’s accuracy gets worse with age.

Doug CooleyParticipantI have this problem from time to time. Just roll the tip of the penis with your thumb and finger. The opening to the penis sometimes gets blocked with dried semen (if you have had a nocturnal emission) or the skin simply sticks together.

Jessica G.ParticipantI have noticed this in the men in my house, and I believe it depends on how great the need to urinate is. Another male friend however, says it could be from the inability to relax your muscles.

john29657ParticipantI have had that too. I found it was lint that got wedged in the tip so just wipe it and start again
