A previous post concerning accents stated that Canadians were more likely to be offended if mistaken for Americans than ‘the other way around.’ So Canadians, why are some of you offended by this? I live in the Northeastern US, and have traveled to Canada (Toronto) several times on business. I cannot tell if someone is from Canada by their accent. When I was in Toronto, everyone sounded as if they were from the US. And I’ve lived in several areas of the US, including New York, Virginia, and Minnesota. The Canandians I met all sounded like ‘Northeasterners.’ Plus, what’s there to be offended about?
