Why do black people seem to prefer to cross the street in the middle of the block instead of at the corner? I drive through black neighborhoods to get to and from work and I feel like I’m frequently dodging black people running across the road in the middle of the block. Is this a ‘bucking authority’ thing? Is it cultural? Or am I reinforcing a bias by not noticing when they use the crosswalk and ‘over-noticing’ when they don’t?
