Why do films like ‘Barbershop’ and ‘Brown Sugar’ constantly get greenlighted in Hollywood? I am a screenwriter and I find its harder to get my work sold or looked at because I think Hollywood wouldn’t want to take a chance on a black man who writes odd screenplays. Writers like Charlie Kaufman and Quentin Tarantino can easily get a go on a script even though they don’t write typical Hollywood scripts.Why?
