I spend a lot of time in Detroit and have noticed that some African Americans pronounce the ‘th’ sound ‘f’. I did not start noticing it until recently, within the last year, but it seems to be catching on. For example, rapper Will Smith pronounces his name ‘Will Smif’ in his new song. Does this have to do with the attention that Ebonics has been getting in the news?
