I just entered a search for ‘asian women shuffling feet’ and came across this discussion and happy to see that other people have made this observation and are also perplexed. What is up with the shuffling? I wonder if any cultural/anthropological studies have been made into understanding this phenomenon, because I really do not fell that it is necessarily a racial issue. The reason I beleive this is because I notice only native-Asian women shuffling their feet and not Asian-American women. What do you all think? Seeing that this discussion took place a few years back I realize I may never get a response but still cool to see others confused and some what annoyed with this ‘walking idiosyncrasy’.

It is so true. I’ve lived among Asians all of my life here in Los Angeles and the vast majority do that and it is so annoying, especially at work. It is more the rule rather than the exception.
