Is Ash Wednesday, Lent, giving up something for 40 days, and not eating meat on Fridays a Catholic tradition or is it Biblical for all Christians? A teacher in my 7-year old’s public school told the entire class that yesterday was Ash Wednesday and that all Christians had to give up something for 40 days and 40 nights and adults could not eat meat on Fridays.
