“Articulate” blacks

    That was a really rude thing to say. I am in professional school and know many very articulate black people! Calling black people articulate has become such a sensitive point that I feel somewhat intimidated by calling *any* black person articulate. But can I call white people articulate but not black people? Surely Barack Obama is articulate by anyone’s standards! I’ve been told quite a few times that I’m very _____ for a ________. (Fill in with any descriptors) It sucks, but it does happen to everyone once in a while. I guess it’s the classic back-handed compliment. Be Kind, for everyone is fighting a great battle." -Plato
