SophiaS.ParticipantWhy do so many African-Americans (mainly younger) walk right out in front of cars even if the car barely has room to stop? I ask this because there is a main street in our city that runs through a historically black neighborhood and almost every time we drive through there I see this happen. I have had men and women come walking right out in front of my car at areas where there is no intersection (the speed limit on this street is 40 mph). I have had to and seen others have to jam on the brakes and then many times these folks will flip you off if you honk the horn. I can understand if this was at intersections but I am talking right out in front of cars, buses, trucks etc. out of nowhere.

AmberWParticipantMaybe it is not a “Black thing”…maybe it is a class thing. I grew up in a very nice upper middle class neighborhood that was mostly Black (surprise surprise) and I have never seen this happen.Just because it is a “Black neighborhood” doesn’t mean their behavoir is because they are Black. It could be that they are low-class and inconsiderate of others. Don’t contribute it to their “Blackness”. It just makes you look stupid.

FossihundtParticipantThere are not only African Americans but also Eurpean Americans and Et cetera doing this where I live. This irratates me because I worked in Forensics for many years, and saw one too many cars brought in because they (the cars ) had hit someone. I’ve had various folks of all colors do this to me. NewsFlash: I do not have A Magical Car which Does Not have to obey the Laws of Physics. I have no desire to ease anyone out of this life into the next by making them my Hood Ornament. Folks, watch where you walk, please try to cross at stop lights and pedestrian crossings; the life you save may be your own.
