Fadiela K.ParticipantWhat would the sense of acceptance be for someone who converted to Islam after being born in South Africa and moving to Australia, compared to someone in the same circumstances who was born into Islam? Would there really be any differences, or would it depend on the person, the person they are married to and the friends they have made?

Jamaluddin21081ParticipantI converted to Islam many years ago and have found all Muslims to be enthusiastically accepting of my conversion. I know many other converts, and they have had the same generally positive experience.

raziaMemberthere should be *no* difference. at all. accepting a convert, and accepting someone who was ‘born into’ islam should hold no difference in a mosque or community. if anything, they should be given extra praise for taking the step – instead of the easy way, that many people are born into the religion they hold. 🙂

AMParticipantAfter converting to Islam, NO distinctions or differences are made. A muslim born or converted stands the same in the face of God and therefore must be treated with no distinction among the other Muslims. In fact the Muslim community should greet a convert full heartedly and help them learn about Islam and attach the to the community. If you converted congratulations and I greet you with the greeting of Islam: Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmat Ullahi Wa Barakatuhu
