I believe many African Americans when praying to God envision his Son, born ‘King of the Jews’. Yet while a picture of Christ can be portrayed as white, Christ himself was born of a Jewish mother to Jewish culture. Relatedly, in the old testament before Jesus was born, ‘God the Father’ chose the Jews as a frame of reference to his teachings.
