I cannot say whether this is true in every case, but generally it seems that men and women have a very different way of shopping. Men tend to know exactly what it is they are looking for and will buy it once it is found. Women, on the other hand, seem to know the type of item, but prefer to wait until they can compare price or detail before making a decision. Ever notice that men will go into a shoe store and buy the first pair of shoes that suit their purpose, while women will try on many different shoes to select the one they like best? Again, this is more of a general rule of thumb, but it seems to hold true for the men and women I know.
