Stacey, I think your change in attitude is more due to internal factors – your own perception – than external ones – a change in teenagers as a whole. By most statistical measures, such as juvenile crime, drug use and college attendance rates, today’s teens are ‘better’ than those of your generation. There’s no way to measure work ethic, but I would doubt there’s been a major change in the past 10 years. I think most people are convinced that kids today are worse than they were, yet I’m sure if those same people looked back at their own adolescences, they’d see it’s not so simple.
