Reply To: Why’d Adam do it?

#28439
As another respondent noted, the Bible does not say that Adam and Eve were together when Eve sinned and ate the fruit. In fact, the Bible says Eve was deceived by the serpent, and they actually had a conversation, so they probably were not together at the time. And the fact that Adam disobeyed God is not really such a difficult thing to believe. People do it every day - people who believe in God and sin anyway. And think about the man who will risk his marriage, children, standing in the community, etc. for an adulterous relationship. Or the woman who will go against her parents' wishes and sometimes against her own better judgment in dating a particular guy who really isn't good for her. Or the couple that chooses to have unprotected sex knowing the risks of pregnancy, STDs and even AIDS. One day, a student may read in a history book about our generation and wonder how anyone could be so irresponsible and careless as to have unprotected sex knowing about all of these dangers. In retrospect, a lot of things seem hard to believe. In the 'heat of the moment,' though, our feelings can overtake our rational thoughts.
