Thanks, Dot. That’s very insightful. I would add that during his disastrous 8 yrs in office, Bush encouraged divisiveness within the country. 9-11 seemed to unite Americans for a little while, but that didn’t last long. Thank God for Obama’s inclusive attitude. Technology has enabled us to behave impersonally and avoid direct face-to-face contact. We’ve become techno-cowards. Instead of resolving difficult interpersonal situations in person, or at least by phone, we shoot the other person an email or leave a message on their home answering machine when we know they’re at work. This relieves us of the awkwardness of responding in real time to the feelings of others. Businesses have learned this lesson by replacing most live receptionists with recordings & phone me
