The whole “make up for racism” thing is getting pretty old. Do we go back 500 years and apologize for not being able to save folks from syphillis because we didn’t have penicillin? Lest we forget, many slaves were sold into slavery by other Africans from warring tribes – but you won’t see that mentioned in history textbooks. Slavery was a result of us not knowing any better. We should have, but we didn’t. But it is 2008, and my peers of all races have had the same opportunities I have had. What we do with those opportunities is an individual choice. I am against any system that promotes the concept that one race or sex should have an employment, education or other advantage over another race. Hire based on merit, experience and ability alone.
