I think the reason that they aren’t portrayed in most war films is that they were not as large a group in the military until the vietnam era. The Tuskegee airmen, an all black air unit were not ever allowed to actually fly in a combat mission. I don’t have an answer for the sterotyped behavior but that maybe the reason they aren’t as largely portrayed in war films.
