The use of the word nigger is truly sad. But it is not used much nowadays. One explanation could be that most black slaves to the Americas were from Nigeria and near the Niger river. The word nigger could have come from there. Also, people are divided into three races: Mongoloids, Caucasoids and Negroids, so maybe it came from ‘Negroid.’
