Why is it that when I'm driving down the freeway I always see white people with their feet on the dashboard? It doesn't matter what state, what city - you always see it. Why?

Now the white man toils in the hot sun, so to speak, to pay taxes to the government to support many, many, jailed black men and their babies and baby mamas. Next time you hear some one say that whitey likes to lock up the black man, you remember that we are the ones who have to take up his slack. We have no choice. The holidays are coming up. Just watch for the heartwarming newsclips of people lining up for turkeys and pretty packages for the kiddies. Look who is on the receiving end and then look at all the lazy whites on the giving end.

Certainly the immigrant farmers and factory workers who were my forefathers (and mothers) would love to hear about this 'bred laziness'. Crass racial generalizations do not answer this question and serve no purpose other than to further divide rather than to unite.

It's unsafe, and because of that I don't do it Many people like to prop their legs up.

It can be traced back to the days of slavery, when whites regularly kicked back in the shade with their shoes off, sipping lemonade while blacks labored in the hot sun. Today, this history manifests itself in the form of white laziness and unkemptness - even in dangerous situations like those on the American roads.

That has to be the most ignorant comment I have heard here. I am surprised it was approved as it was purely racial.

Very few white people today are descended from slave owners. Since slavery continues today in the Middle East and Africa, non-whites are as likely to be descended from slave owners as are whites. And your assertions regarding 'unkemptness' (not really a word) and laziness lack evidence. In fact, they are very similar to statements a white supremacist might make about blacks on welfare.

It looks uncomfortable. I'd suggest it's a Southern thing, but I've been to the South and didn't see it there, either. Could it be something new? Or am I just not paying attention to passengers in other cars?

I see people of all ethnicities do it. I've stopped doing it for two reasons: it's not particularly safe, and being that I'm 'all grown up' now, it's no longer comfortable for me. I'm flexible, but I'm no contortionist. Likewise, I think you'll find people of all backgrounds sticking their arms (and sometimes legs) out of car windows while the vehicle is in motion. I still do this because I love the feel of the wind on my hand and arm, and because I love playing with the aerodynamics of my hand (uplift, downlift, uplift, downlift, uplift, downlift ... I'm like a kid, I know). I don't do it nearly as often now because after taking a few emergency response classes and seeing what happens to people in car accidents, I'd rather not take the risk of having my arm clipped off in a broadside.

I do this. There's something free and relaxing about taking your shoes off and putting your feet on the dashboard. Of course, I hope you were talking about passengers and not drivers. Anyway, sorry I can't answer why. Maybe you can try it and then you'll understand.

What kind of cars are these people driving? Are they young? Hearing what you've described, I'm picturing a person driving a beat-up car. I can't fathom this occurring with a person driving a Lexus.

How does that fir into your twisted historical delusion?

Yes I am white and I do put my feet on the dash, it is a comfort thing. I know that on long trips I tend to do this, but I am sure that other people of other races put their feet on the dash on the freeway. Try it when you are passenger sometime and you just might understand.
