-I'm white and I've been sitting on public toilets for 20 years and never caught an infection, not even a pimple, so I don't see any reason not to. However, my mother taught me absolutely never to sit, so this may be a generational rather than a 'white' thing. (May I ask everyone who doesn't sit whether you wipe up after yourselves when you're done? Many people don't, of all races, and it's disgusting.) -When cooking or eating, I only double-dip if I'm all alone or just with my girlfriend. Never with guests. Yech. Yes, everyone I've ever seen double-dipping has been white. -I kiss in the morning before brushing my teeth but I do worry a bit about my breath, so it's usually more 'peck' than passionate. Remember, though, that everyone in the movies has imaginary perfect breath. -I don't use a washcloth when bathing unless I'm really sweaty or muddy, because my skin is sensitive and if I scrub I'll be itching all day. I find that a good rubdown with the towel afterward seems to exfoliate adequately. This may actually be a 'white' thing, because paler skin may tend to be dryer or thinner or something, or perhaps it just turns redder and looks worse when scrubbed. Also, maybe dead skin shows more against a darker background. Maybe all us white people are going around with ashy skin and don't even know it. I think that's a distinct possibility. I've also noticed some of my black friends seem to have a higher standard of personal hygiene or to be more aware of cleanliness issues (or just more squeamish) than my white friends, and I think Mary's impression that white people are customarily less vigilant about hygiene may be justified to an extent. However, as with the washcloth question, maybe there are practical reasons for some of the differences. Also, in my experiences, various white cultures differ in their customs. Sorry for the long answer, hope I didn't run over 150 words, but they're good questions.
