KimMemberIt’s not because of dirt that many white people wash their hair every day. I sometimes wash mine twice a day. I may not have been anywhere or done anything to get it dirty. It’s just that the oil builds up very quickly. I guess you can see why I used to be equally confused about why someone would purposely add grease to his or her hair. When it comes to hair, there are defintely differences among the races.

CrystalMemberMost Caucasian people have hair that is finer, straighter and oilier than African Americans’ hair. If I didn’t wash my hair at least every other day, it would be a stringy, smelly mess. I had a white coworker who only washed his hair once a week, and believe me, it was not a pretty sight.

TR24204MemberWhen I had long, permed hair, I used to wash it only a couple of times a month. When I got my hair cut and grew out a fro, I found it easier to take care of, so I started washing it once a week. When I wore it really short, I started washing it multiple times a week because of the dandruff, but then I realized it was all the washing that was causing the problem! So now I just wash it once a week, or whenever I’ve done a lot of sweating.

Ben23355MemberI wash my hair at least once a day, if not more. I wash it every morning, and then often again in the evening after I’ve gotten home from work, and always after I’ve exercised. My hair, scalp and face are extremely oily, even by white standards I guess, and if I don’t wash it (usually twice in a row when I shower) it just feels gross and sticks to my head. If I don’t shower at all, it sticks up in all directions (think combination of Don King and Albert Einstein).

Letty22908MemberI have naturally dry hair that almost never gets oily, but it does look flat and dirty if I leave it too long. I wash my hair about once or twice a week, but more often on holiday because it has a tendency to go green from chlorine in swimming pools.
