I know a black man who told me that although he is ashamed to admit this, on 9/11/01 (after getting over the shock) he was thinking, 'Wow, it's a good day in America to be a black man.' Why? He thought this because for a short few weeks, America's 'bad guy' was switched from the black man to the middle eastern man. Instead of people being afraid of black men, they were terrified of men who 'looked like terrorists.' Was this right of him? No. Can I blame him either? No. Anyway, American society has created the black man into someone to be feared through movies, false news coverage, and newspaper articles.
