If teaching religion is banned in public schools, why is it I see Easter and Christmas decorations in the windows at those holidays? (eggs, bunnies, holly, etc.)Those holidays were once Pagan, but those symbols are not associated with Pagan worship anymore.

This is because many people celebrate these two holidays even people who are not Christian. They don't put crosses or any religious symbols in the schools. Many use Easter to have egg hunts or whatever else you might do on Easter and they use Christmas to give each other presents and get together as a family even if they don't believe in Jesus so even though they are now considered Christian holidays many people celebrate them and just leave out the religious part of it.

eggs and bunnies and holly are not religious symbols but symbols that even the non-religious use to signify the holidays. If there was a cross or anything remotely religious you can bet there would a huge mess. Teaching religion also is not necessarily banned from schools, it's teaching that one religion is right and one is wrong. There are religion classes at public schools, they talk about the three "world religions", Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, and some tohers like Hinduism and Buddhism and so on.

Teaching religion is NOT banned in public schools. Nor is prayer banned in public schools. What is banned is the teaching of only ONE religion and/or forcing a student to study a particular religion or religions, prayer that is led by a school official/employee, prayer at an event where attendance is mandatory, prayer where participation is required or coerced. The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus have nothing to do with any particular faith and are therefore not banned from public schools. Love and Light, Rev. Shelly
