rich people can afford to tip better so service workers try to be attentive in anticipation of a fat extra. They rent the suites, order room service, use the overpriced mini-bars, so hoteliers fawn over them. Rich people can afford to pay high prices for luxery items so shop keepers try to be attentive in anticipation of a big sale. The same goes for eating establishments, hotels, etc. They get better treatment by the police because they can afford the best lawyers who'll sue at the drop of a hat for any perceived slight. They get better treatment at colleges and hospitals because they can afford big endowments. Basically, they get better treatment because they can afford to pay for it.
