If a man is medically impotent, as from diabetes, does he still have a sex drive, and can he have any kind of sexual excitement and release? This assumes he will not be using any 'mechanical aids.'

This is weird, we are in the same town, almost same age, we may even go to the same church! What are the odds of running into each other( so to speak) on this internet site? In answer to your question: I am a borderline diabetic, first diagnosed over 10 years ago. I had noticed a decline in my libido over about a two-year period prior to the diabetes being diagnosed (Type2) I was always very sexually active and was basically ready any time, anywhere. I initially attributed my lowered libedo to a growing lack of desire for my wife who was steadily gaining weight to the point of become a turnoff for me. I had my testosterone level checked and it was fine and I could, on occasion, perform well when properly motivated. At any rate when the diagnosis of diabetes came in I theorized that it was due to small blood vessel damage due to the diabetes. My diabetes is controlled by diet and exercise and although I guess I am technically impotent, through the use of the new wonder drugs Viagra and Cialis, I am able to perform almost at the pre-diabetic level. So to answer you question, a man can certainly continue, to some degree, to have sexual desire and arousal and release. Remember the desire part is genetically hard wired, unless something is really wrong psychologically a man desires sex, virtually all the time. The arousal part comes from a potential partner sending out the right signals. Unless the diabetes has destroyed the plumbing mechanism (blood supply system) entirely, with Viagra or one of the other new drugs, he should be able to achieve erection and have orgasms. If too much damage has been done then the desire would remain (unless he just gives up) but he would not be able to achieve an erection, and orgasm without erection is difficult if not impossible.

Sexual excitement is a personal matter that can vary, but where there is a will there is a way! With a loving, caring partner all kinds of good things can still happen. Intimacy in sexuality and a broader repertoire of activities can help with erections and ejaculation as well as the satisfaction of their partner. It depends upon the degree of neuropathy as well. Diabetics often do not respond as well to drugs such as Viagra etc, but they have very good response with the drug Caverject injected into penile tissue. This also takes the erectile dysfunction problem out of the realm of the psychological and puts it into strictly physical terms. It works with or without a strong libido. ED can be very traumatic to the male psyche and lead to all sorts of performance anxiety and loss of self-esteem. If the problem is mild, more intimacy and stimulation may take care of the problem, but when the problem is more advanced, Caverject is a good answer--once you get past the idea of putting the needle in sensitive territory. Sometimes a penile ring works for men who can get but not maintain an erection. Used carefully, it prevents blood from flowing out of the penis until the pressure is released. Make sure the man in question and maybe in tandem with his partner consults a competent urologist. There is more than one way to skin a cat--with apologies to the cat---and a good urologist who treats ED can do wonders to allay the mental stress and help the physical response.

I am on medication for ADD and anxiety/depression. It has taken a few changes in the meds and dosages to get it right. I was having a problem with my anxiety/depression med being too low, which would cause a less than full or no erection. However, I would be extremely horny.

I've been on certain medications for some time that inhibit my sexual performance. Yes I still have a sex drive and yes, I can have sexual release - just not as much as before I went on the medication.

Many times someone who has this type of condition will still have a sex drive; that is something that is biologically in you. Nerve damage and things like that do not seem to have a relation. Depending on the condition that man is in, such as paralyzation or any nerve damage, I would say the man can have any type of release. As long as he can get an erection, he can definitely release.
