Why do so many people have a problem with uncircumcised guys, when that's the way we're born and it's completely healthy and natural?

Well, I think that the reason why that people have problems w/ males being uncircumsized has many points to it. For one, it could be the appearance. Think of putting on a turtleneck sweater. Sure the sweater thing isn't too graphic, but when it's brought down to a level of genitalia, it seems 'alien' in its own right. When erect, an uncircumsized penis has the same appearance as if it was circumsized. Just that the foreskin is pulled back around the head. Another factor about uncircumsized penis' is regular hygiene. Because the foreskin is still present, there leaves an area which is not exposed, which in turn will allow bacteria to collect, and if not washed regularly, can become infected. All it is, is just the pulling back of the skin, and proceding to wash via soap and water. For some, they feel that it is natural, and that there is nothing wrong w/ the foreskin being left there. In some cultures, circumsision is seen as evil, because it is part of the human body, and removal of it would be cause for disaster. It's like saying, if you were born, and they removed your arm, just by choice. You would be able to simple tasks such as, opening a jar of peanut butter, but it would not be as easy, due to one less arm. But comparing the penis is like apples and grapes. You would be able to procreate and excrete waste w/ or without the foreskin there. It is just the choice of the parents when the baby is born, to have the baby circumsized or not. The one positive side to having the foreskin present, is in the center of the head, there is a nerve which allows a greater sense of stimulation. Since the foreskin is removed at birth, that nerve is still there, but the level of stimulation, would be, I'm guessing, be just about the same, or a little less. So regardless of opinions, feelings, or preferences that people have, the individual who is viewing the genitals, will draw their on conclusion to whether or not they deem it 'apropriate'. Personally, I am not circumsized, and it used to bother me because when you're young, you are more concerned about what everyone else's looks like. But as time went on, the acceptance becomes higher and higher, and if that other person you are with, happens to see it, will normally ask questions about it, and want to know why an individual's penis wasn't circumsized. So, the significant other can decide whether or not they want to accept the fact that the penis isn't circumsized.

I think this is a bit of an American thing. In Britain, for instance, because many men are uncut, it is not seen as strange. My boyfriend is uncircumcised, and I actually prefer it, because it supposedly makes men last longer. It is only a problem if they don't wash under the foreskin often enough.

I don't know if you want to get biblical or religious, but this is what the Bible says--> Genesis 17:10 - This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. This is a covenant made between God and Abraham. It must have been important enough by God to be mentioned 92 times in 75 verses. If you are not biblical, then what about the infections that you can pass on to your partner if you don't clean under the foreskin properly?

I think it may have to do with people being apprehensive about what they aren't familiar with; there really aren't that many uncircumcised guys out there, at least not in the United States. I think that trend may change, since we now realize that circumcision isn't necessarily the best thing to do (I even know progressive Jewish mothers who are questioning the traditional circumcision), but for now, most of us are not acclimated to penises 'au naturel.' Also, I think there is an unfair generalization that an uncircumcised penis will smell funny due to less than ideal hygiene, which is a thought that must turn people off (especially if you're a person who likes to give blow jobs!)

my daughter and her fiance have a four week old son. Most local hospitals do not circumcise babies, unless there is a valid medical reason to do so. Both my daughter and her fiance have had presure from his mother to have our grandson 'butchered' as I call it, but there is only one doctor that does the operation locally, and he does it up until 3 weeks of age, and also does his best to convince the parents otherwise. My husband was circumcised as an infant, but we chose not to have our two sons, now 22 and 18 done.

At the end of the day it's what looks good, and what looks good is socially programmed i suppose, although you don't see many dicks in society, as you grow up. I think women suffer the brunt of social expectations in their appearance a lot more. It is just the same as guys wanting to look at women with out of proportion breasts which tend to be fake (not always, just most of the time). Pamela anderson was not born that way, it's not natural but most men like it. Maybe both of these issues are born of the porn industry....? A funny thing about the porn industry, I saw a clip on TV of this porn star saying 'oh i see nothing wrong with being naked, we were all born naked and it's natural' the irony was that her breasts were HUGE and fake, and her lips looked as though they may have been pumped... i don't think you were naturally born with those sweetheart... Anyway.

It's all a matter of cultural norms. There's nothing inherently wrong or disgusting with being uncircumsized, but because it's been done so much in this country it's just 'weird' not to be circumsized. There's also the whole false myth that you get junk trapped in the foreskin, which perpetuates the whole thing.

My husband is Asian and uncut, I think circumcision should be done away with. I was thinkin about it once and I figured that bc he was uncut that maybe he could feel more of the original nerves and stuff that wasnt cut off. Who knows, maybe uncut is the better way to go. Maybe thats why the Jews started the tradition, to prevent ppl from pleasure. ??? Anyone else agree?

I adore uncircumcised cocks. Many Americans are prissy twits who want everything sanitized -- why else are some guys shaving off body hair and making themselves look unnatural? Maybe Florida is just a bit too uptight. You shouldn't give a shit what other people might think of you. If they are so simple minded and superficial that they can't get beyond a foreskin, they are to be pittied. Hang in there (as it were) dude!

There are immune cells on the underside of the foreskin (also in the anus and vigina) whose job it is to take infectious bodies to immune central (simplification). So when exposed to HIV, uncircumcised men are TEN times more likely to contract HIV then circumcised men. Also it's always been a question about hygiene, just now it's also a question of getting a 100% fatal disease. And for those who think it won't feel as good being circumcised all I can tell you was what a black guy in my army unit said. He had an accident that required he get circumcised by the military. He stated that it felt as good, if not better, to have sex now then before he was circumcised.

Yep, it's a cultural thing. In Europe, it's actually pretty uncommon for men to be circumcised. Most girls I know find circumcised penises quite odd...

The US is the only country in the world where circumcision is carried out for non-religious reasons. The practice was introduced in the late 19th century and has variously been justified as a masturbation preventative, a VD preventative, a cleanliness issue, and a penile cancer preventative. Most non-Americans (unless circumcised for religious reasons) view it as a barbaric practice and would probably kill a doctor that mutilated their child's sexual organ that way. Men who have been circumcised in their adult life live to regret the decision as it diminishes their sex life considerably as the sensitivity of the unprotected penis decreases.

As a circumcised male, naturally I have a predisposition to view circumcision as the 'normal' condition, albeit unnatural. The uncircumcised male penis is considered potentially 'dirty' since the area under the fore skin is a breeding ground for bacteria in the absence of good personal hygiene. A circumcised penis is considered a technologically superior member. Secondly, the uncircumcised penis somewhat resembles the dick of a dog, i.e., completely and unabashedly primitive and therefore wicked. The philisophical desirablility of reason over the animalistic component of our being, hence reason(science) over brutish bodily function, leads many people to believe that the uncircumcised penis is vile, bestial, dangerous and primitive. Of course, this is an ethnocentric interpretation.

actually, circumsised men are supposed to last longer since the head of the penis becomes less sensitive since it is constantly exposed. However, personally I can't see what the point in circumcision is, it's basically interfering with nature.
