There was a Robert Heinlein science fiction novel a few years back in which an alien comes to live on Earth, in America. When he innocently observes that we have a female-dominated society, everyone laughs at him. His logic was that the critical function of a species is reproduction, and all else is subordinant. In American society, females control this nearly 100 percent. With the exception of rape, a female can control reproduction completely through abstinence, birth control and abortion. Regarding raising children to adults, that too, is a female-controlled process. So, maybe we already have a female-controlled society. Females can and have made inroads in the decision-making processes in our culture (work, politics, buying power); men, however, have made no inroads in controlling reproduction and only some progress in gaining control of raising children.
