That’s a dumb question. That’s like asking ‘why do people live New York City when they know that air conditioners can fall on them?’ or Also Whites aren’t the only people who swim (Blacks and Latinos in the Caribbean, Pacific Islanders, basically any coastal population, provided that the water is at a comfortable temperature and not too rough. Of course, they stay vigilant for sharks and things. Maybe you’ve never been to the ocean, since you listed Kansas as your location. But if you were to go to the Jersey Shore in the summer, for example, ‘Jaws’ is not gonna come out and bite you. Some Whites, in particular, have taken to the sport of shark-feeding (from shark cages, of course). Like bears in the woods, this has caused sharks to make those areas as their feeding grounds, and thus their population in those areas increases. Like bears, this is possibly the only way they put humans on their menus.
