AmanadParticipantI’m not Jewish, mind you, but I study the Torah and adhere to many (not all yet) of its teachings. While I can’t answer the question of why a Muslim would be ‘afraid’ of pork, I can understand why a Jew would avoid it. Pigs are ‘unclean’ animals, this is a concept that has many different connotations, and many different people have many different concepts of what ‘unclean’ means. For some, if something is ‘unclean’ it means that it is diseased, for others it means this person or object is spiritually ‘unclean’. For most though, the term ‘unclean’ implies that if you come into contact with it, this results in some form of contamination, and if something has been contaminated it must either be cleansed or destroyed. I seriously doubt anyone might be stoned for touching a pig, but some may have to mikvah (take a ritual bath) and possibly abstain from fellowship. While these things aren’t necessarily fatal or harmful, they can at the very least be very inconvenient.

AmanadParticipantI believe men have as much right to the title of ‘whore’ as women do. After all, don’t we live in a society where our job descriptions are no longer defined by gender? Me and my friends refer to such men as ‘whores, hos or skanks,’ and I believe other women should as well.

AmanadParticipantDoes it really say ‘Do not kill?’ I could be wrong, mind you. I’m not a Hebrew scholar, but I am a Hebrew student, and what I read was ‘Lo tiretzah’ (Do not commit murder). While I do believe God expects us to respect life, especially human life, there are certain instances where He actually commanded his people to kill. I do not believe that The Almighty would contradict himself, but I do believe that in this instance the Torah was mistranslated.

AmanadParticipantPardon my ignorance, but I don’t understand why a Jewish Messiah would come to nullify the Torah. If you have any insight, please explain.
