I was wondering if it is considered racist or rude to refer to Native Americans as Indians. Of course I KNOW they are not literally Indian as there are not from India, but is this still considered a racial slur? The word Indian doesn’t refer to the culture or skin color of the ethnicity (unlike black or white which seem to be pretty acceptable) Also, it seems that Native Americans often refer to themsleves as Indian. Which is more acceptable?
