I attend and sell at craft shows in the southeast US, and I've noticed there are very few black artists, even in racially mixed areas. Of course, there are the women making sweetgrass baskets in Charleston SC, and the outsider/folk art movement has many black artists as well. But in the 'mainstream' art/craft world, where are the black jewelers, potters, glassblowers, woodturners, weavers, etc.? Is this a regional thing?
