I have had several African-American friends, and there are many things that they do that I cannot understand. However, the one thing that I see African- Americans do that I cannot comprehend is their frequent use of the ‘N word’. Is it not a name that degrades this beautiful race? Is it not a name filled with hundreds of years of hate and pain? As a person of a different racial background, please help me to understand why this word or name is so commonly used with African-Americans.
