I would like to know if there is any truth to the stereotype that Native Americans cannot hold alcohol, and if not, where and how did this stereotype start?

Native Americans did not have alcohol before whites came along. When whites were taking over their lands, especially in the late 1800s, they got some Joe Shmo guy drunk and had him sign the ‘treaty’ like he was an actual diplomat for his tribe. For many years, whites have encouraged alcoholism on reservations so Native Americans would not be able to move off them and depend on themselves. As for how contemporary Native Americans hold alcohol, I don’t know.
