I recently had a conversation with a black girl a few years younger than myself. I asked her which Black Studies courses she took at the university we both attended. To my surprise, she had not taken any and did not feel a need to. Her reasoning was ‘I’m black. I don’t need learn about it.’ Has anyone else ever encountered others who felt this way? If so, how does it make you feel to know that some blacks believe that being black is enough?
