The mainstream thought in white American society is definitely anti-Black. Whether these people publicly admit their feelings is a whole different topic. Generally, whites are hypocrits and denounce blacks among themselves but would never say such a thing to a black’s face. Most white Americans see blacks as a burden to society, as they account for only 20% of the population but account for 75% of the crime. These feelings are especially high among whites who have come into contact with many blacks in their life, such as lower income or middle income whites. Speaking as a white male with all white friends and family, I find America to be a very racist country that wishes to be rid of all blacks and other minorities that may be bringing the country down.

On the contrary. I was raised around only other white, middle class people for a great deal of my childhood, and it just kind of filled a void in me to find out that there were other kinds of people in the world. I live where I do now, partly because I like to be part of a big mix of cultures and races. There is a constant dialogue, sometimes happy, sometimes not, about how we all fit together, but I’m grateful that we all stay here and continue to work on it.
