Why do Blacks always ask me for a special ‘discount’ or some type of rule-breaking consideration (that usually involves them not paying the full price for something)? I work two retail customer service jobs. I am frequently asked for what would amount to a ‘Black man discount’ by any Black man of middle age I serve, while many Black females in their 20’s and 30’s will ask me for special favors–for example, they will ask if they don’t have to leave at closing time, or throw away their food or drinks before entering the establishment, when signs are clearly posted and everyone else seems able to comply.
