Rebecca30087MemberI understand the premise of affirmative action, so that some aren’t descriminated against, which would be obviously wrong. Yet I feel it is wrong to give someone who is underqualified a job just because they are a minority. It just doesn’t stop there, as a woman, I am against the affirmative actions toward women too. NYC police and firefighters, and probably in all other cities in the US have tests to pass. One test for firefighters is carrying ‘bodies’ out of burning buildings. Men have to carry a certain weight of dummy, yet women don’t have to carry that much, I think they have to carry 100lbs. EXCUSE ME!! I am 185 lbs, I don’t want to die because ‘Oops sorry, a woman tried to save you, but she can only lift 100 lbs.’ What’s good for the goose is good for the gander and vice versa. Standards should be the same for everyone. Survival of the fittest, not of the weakest or in this case underqualified. When it comes to me, I only want the best people on my side. I don’t want some underqualified retard because he happens to be black so we have to give him a job. If he is better than a white man, then fine give him the job. I am against racism and descrimination if it is warrented, but I don’t like reverse descrimination either. My sister’s friend’s brother was Valedictoran of my HS back like 8 years ago. He gradueated pre med at the top of his class in college. Wehn he applied to med schools, he applied to 15 medical schools and only 1 wanted him…why? Because he was a white male, and all the other med schools wanted minorites. TOP OF HIS MO FO CLASS and ONE SCHOOL WOULD TAKE HIM BECAUSE HE IS WHITE!!! That pisses me off. Should we get rid of Affirmative action, in one word YES!
