I disagree that people can exist without religion. Religion (of any form, including ‘devotion’, if you will, to science or philosophy) defines who we are as humans, how we relate to the world at large, why we are here, what our goals in life should be, and how we are to inter-relate to others. In anthropology circles, this is also called ‘world view’. Because science can truly never answer questions of Morality, Ethics, Personal roles in life, etc., there will always be need for religion to provide these answers. and in most cases, these answers do not need to become ‘dividers’. that only happens when people who like power find there is power in telling others what to say, think, or do. THEN you get division.
