You have a good point. however I feel that using a qualifier such as african , asian , or anything else gives me the impression that we are not as american as a white person who is merely called american and not european american. If that ‘african-american’ were to fight in a war for his/her country he/she is called american, win a medal – american, heads a company – american, does anything bad ; described as african-american by the press. I prefer black because my race and my nationality are two separate entities.
