Thank you for your response, but I am still bewildered. If a woman ‘enjoys being friends with you’ and does not ‘want to lose your friendship’, why would physical intimacy change the relationship to the point that they ‘would lose you as someone in their lives’? In most cases, the friendship has been cemented with heart-to-heart talks, sharing of confidences, empathy, helping each other through tough times, etc. If a deep abiding affection has grown, why are women hesitant to physically express it? If you both understand and agree that you are not auditioning to be pair-bonded for life, what would change (i.e., ‘point of no return’)? You are both already emotionally close to the extent that you will be in each others lives for the long term. What is hard to understand and reconcile is that some women will give in to momentary lust to someone they wouldn’t think of having a long-term relationship of any sort with (e. g., groupie phenomenon), while withholding the physical expression of real affection to someone they are very close to.
