I am a man and I do shave my armpits. I believe it comes, at least in part, from an ancient Egyptian method of curtailing body odor. I must admit I do stink less since I started doing it even though my batheing techniques have not changed. I have also seen that my armpits had a green tinge to them when I first shaved. Apparently all that hair and sweat breeds fungus which creates the smell. With the hair gone the fungus has now left and I smell better, longer.
