That’s some pretty paranoid advice you have given. Do you have any personal experience with India or any other countries for that matter, or is this just what you have heard? I have never been to India, but I know many people from there as well as many Americans who have travelled to India. I have never heard about anything like you described. Yes, India is definitely a male-dominated country, and some consideration for this must be taken into account, but I think the advice for this woman not to go anywhere without her boyfriend is a bit of an over-reaction. As long as she wears conservative clothes and keeps her eyes open for cultural clues, she will most likely do just fine. There are countries throughout the world where being an American is a liability, but India is not really one of them.
