I grew up and still live in Kentucky, which has a bad rep anyway. But here, a lot oof people refer to any poor white person as white trash. I resent and hate those words as much as an African-American hates the word n****r. I grew up lower class and in low income housing. My parents worked and were very intelligent- they just had hard luck. Not all poor white peole live in trailer parks, are barefoot and pregnant, and marry thier relatives. Although we were poor, we still had manners, and feelings. It seems as if recently, people are using the words ‘white trash’ as frequently as people used ‘n****r’ in the early part of the century. It is a VERY offensive term to a lot of people and should stop being used. I don’t know anyone personally who would call a person of another ethnic background a racist term, but no one cares or gasps when those words are said. It makes no sense.
