I think it is mainly the US that has such a problem with mixed couples. I am from the West Indies, and we have people from all over the world that have no problem dating or marrying outside their ‘race’. For example, my great grand father was from Canton China, and my great grand mother was a black Hispanic (they had 12 kids). I think the real melting pot is not in the US, but in the West Indies.
