From my observations, it seems that black parents usually have a stricter discipline method than Caucasians. A majority of black parents usually follow the biblical saying ‘Spare the rod, spoil the child.’ Discipline may come in forms of non-abusive beatings and punishments. On the other hand, Caucasian parents prefer to use verbal discipline or a punishment that may limit their child’s access to something they like, i.e. ‘Time-outs.’
