1Tim 2:5 says ‘For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus who gave himself as a ransom for all men.’ Furthermore, Jesus alone lived a perfect, sinless life, every other person ‘has fallen short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3:23) and ‘no one is righteous, not even one’ (Romans 3:10). Mary was a sinner, who was justified and made holy because of her faith in Jesus, her son, not because she was righteous or holy in and of herself. Jesus alone can save us. And he came to be mediator between God and man. He died in our place. He is God. Jesus, and not Mary, is worthy of worship. Because of Jesus, we can pray to God, and no other mediator is necessary. Mary calls God her Savior (Luke 1:47-50), she never implies that she can save herself or others. We need Jesus and Jesus alone.
