I am a femme lesbian and I must admit, i share in this confusion. My partner and I have many lesbian friends we hang out with- 10 regularly- and 8 of them would never be caught dead in a skirt. They are all part of couples and one half of each couple claims to be ‘femme’. Fine, no one is telling you how to dress. I just want to understand why a woman would say she is femme when she wears men’s shoes and baggy clothes, as so many of my friends do. The only answer I can seem to get is, ‘I like it’. (No problem- you don’t have to change or fit any stereotypes). Anyone who understands this?
